Landscape Architecture is quite simply the design of outdoor spaces in order to maximise their potential for both people and the wider environment. Landscape Architects plays a significant role in shaping many of the public spaces that people use. These may include local parks, school grounds, housing estates and city centre squares. Landscape Architects are employed by Local Authorities, by Private Landscape Companies, and other related governmental organisations.

The landscape profession is one of the most exciting areas to be involved in today. Landscape Professionals have a central role to play in the design, management and care of our environment both rural and urban. Landscape architects seek creative solutions to environmental problems and try to maintain landscape in a sustainable way to balance the needs of people and nature. They work at many scales – from the small intimate scale of a garden or neighbourhood park through to the large scale of regional and landscape planning. It is the potential diversity of work and its multidisciplinary nature which makes the profession so interesting and stimulating.
